This form is important because it converts a private financial promise into a legally sworn, verifiable commitment tied to a specific person, job, and amount. Of everything attached to it, the bank statement is the most important supporting document, because it is the only piece of evidence that proves the money behind the promise actually exists.

1. Why This Form Is Important

This affidavit is not just paperwork — it is the legal proof that a real person, with a real and verifiable income, is financially responsible for a student's overseas education. It matters because:

  • Visa Requirement — Most study-abroad visas (US F-1, UK Student Visa, Canada Study Permit, etc.) require proof that the student will not run out of money during their course. A bank statement alone is not enough — the visa officer also wants a signed, sworn statement naming exactly who is paying and how much.
  • University Admission Requirement — Universities abroad ask for an "Affidavit of Support" or "Financial Guarantee" before releasing the final admission/I-20/CAS letter.
  • Legal Accountability — Once signed and verified, this document becomes legally binding. If the sponsor later denies responsibility, the affidavit is admissible evidence of a written, sworn commitment.
  • Proof of Stable Income Source — Because the sponsor is a Delhi Development Authority (DDA) employee, the document proves the funding source is a stable government salary, which carries more weight with visa officers than an unverifiable private income claim.
  • Links the Money to the Exact Course — It locks in the specific university, course, duration, tuition per semester, and monthly plus annual living expense, preventing any later dispute about how much was promised.
